Experience

I am extremely excited to have the opportunity to tutor students again. I have experience working with students K-12 in the areas of Math and Reading. I enjoy helping students unlock their potential, gaining the skills and confidence to accomplish their goals. I also currently hold a Doctor of Psychology degree in Clinical Forensic Psychology. I had the opportunity to work, for two years, as a senior tutor for Alternatives Unlimited and Academic Goals, Inc, a private tutoring companies funded by "No Child Left Behind". I tutored children ages K-12 with low standardized test scores in Math and Reading. This program utilized learning techniques and activities based on mathematics and reading concepts appropriate for each grade level. Each student's growth and improvement was measured using their pre-test scores in concepts associated with mathematics and reading. Each child was also given weekly assistance on homework assignments or projects currently being reviewed in their classrooms as needed. Many students made significant progress in their academic aptitude and standardized test scores. More importantly, each student gained confidence in their abilities with the help and support of their families. Each student was tutored in their own home which allowed parents and other family members to support the child in their problem areas and to be more involved in the learning process. It was a pleasure to see the children being excited to learn and to see parents proud of their children. As an undergraduate student, I tutored high school and community college students in the areas of math, history, biology, psychology, and public speaking. I specialize in all areas of general and abnormal psychology, I have an easy going tutoring style and an upbeat personality, however I have expectations of each student. I will hold every student accountable to insure that they improve and progress at their own pace. I tailor my tutoring style to each student and recognize that every student learns in a different way.
